Location
description
The
village of Sarre is 4 km from Aosta, the regional capital. Located at
the heart of Valle d'Aosta, near the regional capital and a few
kilometers from the highest peaks of Europe. Located on the left bank
of the Dora Baltea river, the municipality stretches from the "plaine"
up to 3061 meters of the Mont Fallère.
The City of Sarre is located in Espace Grand
Paradis,
a place that maintains beautiful castles and Roman ruins and it is easy
to be in contact with wild fauna and flora. Since the first snow, the
landscape changes and becomes a paradise of skiing and long walks in
white. In spring and summer Sarre is a good starting point for routes
of varying difficulty to explore the mountain.

Hints
and Tips
Gran
Paradiso National Park
extends from 800 meters ASL to 4,061 meters on the valley floor of the
summit of Gran Paradiso. Larch and fir woods, wide alpine grasslands,
rocks and glaciers are the perfect setting for the life of a rich and
varied fauna. Symbol of the park, the ibex, is pretty confident and not
easily sighted grazing in the alpine meadows. As well as the marmot, a
rodent with nice strong nails digging long tunnels in the ground which
allows him to hide when threatened, and spend the winter in
hibernation.
In Cogne (15 km) there
are well-known cross-country skiing.
From Aosta,
by cable car in 20 minutes you can reach the ski slopes of Pila. The
nearby town of Aosta is considered a corner of ancient Rome in the
Alps, the most important example of Roman architecture in northern
Italy. Aosta is also home to important medieval remains, churches and
residences of feudal lords.
